Crystallisation behaviour and morphological studies of PEKK and carbon fibre/PEKK composites

The increased interest in carbon fibre/poly(etherketoneketone) (CF/PEKK) as an option for high-performance applications calls a thorough understanding of the composite's crystallisation behaviour, due to essential role that crystallinity plays performance. In this study, differential scanning calorimetry was used with variety thermal cycles evaluate effect history on development unreinforced PEKK and CF/PEKK. Different isothermal holding temperatures during cooling affected ratio between primary secondary crystallisation, non-isothermal influenced extent crystallisation. inclusion fibres proportion matrix slowed down kinetics. A Velisaris-Seferis model kinetics data, adapted Nakamura models were data. Based work, optimum hold CF/PEKK are estimated lie range 220–260 °C.
